（1）Prepare two contrasting movements of alto saxophone solo literature and two Ferling etudes.

Applicants should be prepared to perform two contrasting solos. One selection should be a major piece from the standard repertoire (e.g. Maurice, Glazounov, Creston, Ibert). Scales, arpeggios and sight reading may be requested. The BM saxophone curriculum is flexible and may consist of classical study exclusively or a combination of classical and jazz study. One selection should be a major piece from the “classic” repertoire (e.g. Ibert, Dubois, Desenclos) and one selection should be a piece written after 1980 (e.g. Lennon, Bolcom, Albright). Scales, arpeggios and sight reading may be requested. Ensemble excerpts are optional.

The MM saxophone curricula are flexible and may consist of classical study exclusively or a combination of classical and jazz study. A jazz selection is therefore optional for the audition.
